Most probably has something to do with the LSP layer of your winsock,
the eZtrust version 7 series uses the LSP layer for the real time email
scanning.
Microsoft Anti-Spyware is removing malware from the LSP and the current
Beta1 is not fixing the stack. This breaks the network.
There are a number of posts on how to fix the LSP part of your winsock:-
For XP SP2 machines just run "netsh winsock reset" from a command prompt
to repair the LSP stack.
For earlier operating systems you can use a program called lspfix.exe,
use google to search the Internet and install/run the program.
Also suggest that you should update to the latest eTrust AV release
7.0.5.3 dated 15th Dec 2004, it contains a number of fixes. Download
if necessary from:-
<ftp://ftpez.ca.com/pub/myeTrust/apps/EZAntivirus.exe>
And note that CA have had some problems with the LSP part of there
eTrust AV program and have released a more recent bug fix dated 6th Jan
2005. Bug fix needs to be manually installed by over copying files to
directories.
It may be worth down loading this, it contains two programs to install,
you can find where they go in the Windows\system32 directory and the
program files\ca\eTrust EZ armour\eTrust antivirus directory. Download
from:-
