I've tested it. It locks and unlocks. Locked folders remain visible
which might not be to everybody's taste.
It incorporates itself into the right click menu.
Useful looking app... I assume (with no experience) that it remains
reliable long term.
It works on 98SE which is always a bonus in an app of this kind.

Do you know if it makes any settings on the host computer? What I am
getting at is that I would like to use it on my USB thumb drive that would
be moved from computer to computer.

Thanks... Bob

Becareful with this thing. If you have folders locked (locar or network)
and do a system restore, you may lose your access to the locked folders. I
did that and it took quite a bit of "fiddling" to get the folders back.

All folder/file locking utilities can mess up the careless and dim. I
once locked a directory that containing my locking app.
That was fun.

You missed the part where I said it incorporated itself into the right
click menu?

I didn't check the install process but it demands a reboot, making me
think it is quite messy.

I don't know of an app that fits your requirement. What OS's would you
be wanting it for?

The build you mention is a freeware build: V5.0

Thanks, Jo and all. This is the only program that I know of that will
disable access to folders without encrypting them too.

'Paranoid' doesn't encrypt IIRC. It renames the folder to something
nonsensical that confuses Windoze
So the folder gets hidden as well as locked, which is a bonus to my
mind. It works on 98, not XP, dunno about ME.
