I know this is a basic question but I'm having a real brain drain!! Can
anyone tell me where the setting is within group policy to set the location
of the Temporary Internet Files?

Cheers,

Andy

Are you referring to the setting that disables the ability of the user to
change the location of the Temporary Internet Files folder? It's in: User
Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer.

Dave,

Thanks for your reply. No I want to be able to redirect the location of the
Temporary Internet Files (currently "C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files") via a Group
Policy to C:\IETemp

Regards,

Andy

(I have also applied the restriction you mention to remove a users ability
to change the location)

You're referring to the folder redirection functionality in group policy.
It's been awhile since I had to play with this feature, but I don't
remember that being one of the folders you'll be able to redirect. If you
can, here are the articles that should walk you through it:

242557 Registry Settings for Folder Redirection in Windows

Is there a place in AD to change the size of this folder for all the users? Most of my machines default to 1+GB for how many temp files to save. I want all users to have more like 5-10MB on this setting. None of them can change it manually because they are not admins of their machines. Any ideas, workarounds

Thx

Yes with in a Group Policy.

User Configuration\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer Maintenance , !Right
Click! Internet Explorer Maintenance Node !Click! Preferenced Mode. Advanced
Container should appear under the Internet Explorer Maintenance Node,
!Click! Advanced -> Corporate Settings.

Here you can define the Temporary Internet Files User based or Machine
based.

Have a nice day!
