Hi there
I know from my system information that the swap file (or
page file) is located at c:\pagefile.sys. But when I
search for it, it does not appear anywhere.
Can someone tell me how to find this file? So that I can
put this file on different drive to decrease fragmentation.
Thanks
Aman

You're probably using file explorer and it's hiding "system" files.
Look in options to change that. Minimizing pagefile fragmentation but
if al you do it put it on another disk will still fragment unless you
do some things.

First, look in Task Manager to see how much pagefile you need
when all the applications you need are all running. Add
some percenatge.

In Controlpanel/System/Advanced you set the MIN=MAX file pagefile
size. Unless you do this you will get fragments, even on a second
disk. (You can dedicate an empty disk to paging, and not worry about
fragmentation, but don't do this without proving that the pagefile
is a bottleneck, and that a disk will cure it, first.)

Then you need to do a boot-time defrag. The paid defrag tools do
this.

I'm not sure if booting in repair mode and running the built-in defrag
will, Has anyone tried this ?
