I need to know where Windows Mail saves the Inbox, outbox,
etc. in the Windows explorer.
In XP I was able to copy all my backed up mail to that folder
and it will show up.

Thanks

C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

Many thanks
They don't use .dbx any more.
I have more than 12,000 email saved in Outlook Express,
been saving them since 1996. Mostly business and purchases.

Unfortunately Windows mail will not do, it saves each email individually,
very stupid of Microsoft. It will import Outlook only if you upgrade.

See the section here about importing OE messages into WinMail:
http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

It did it, more than 40,000 email.
I had to exclude Draft, Deleted Items, a spam folder, and
a log file.
It put them in an imported folder, needs lots of work
to reorganize them, and put them in the folder order
they where in.

Had a hell of time making it pick up the right path.

Million thanks again.

Glad it worked. The individual eml file format was chosen because of the
huge problems people had losing the messages from a folder when they were
all together in one file. This format is to help protect the message store
for the user -- something that was considered a low priority with OE.

I don't think I ever lost a message, but if a file got corrupted
then it would be a big loss.
I think they are easier to scan for viruses also.

Ted,

In Microsoft Mail, go to Tools/Options/Advanced/Maintenence/Store folder to
see where all messages are stored.
