I have a problem with the file browser and my desktop. Whenever I open a
folder I get a message:"Location is not Available F:\philipm\Desktop refers
to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive etc......"

This must be because i accidentally dragged the Desktop onto my portable
hard drive and it isn't attached. I also cannot have any desktop Icons. I've
tried plugging in the P. Hard Drv. and yet it takes no effect. So my question
is, is it possible to redefine where it is looking to access my Desktop
information. If so how?

Any help is much appreciated.

The 'Desktop' Value points to it at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

Open RegEdit and change the path.

I tried going in and changing the value to "C:\Users\Philip\Desktop" but i
still get the error message and have no desktop icons besides the default
windows ones.
Thanks for the tip though, i think it's a step in the right direction.

Rightclick a Command Prompt icon on start, and 'run as administrator'
Try running the command:
shell:desktop

After getting the Command Prompt up in Administrative mode i get
"C:\Windows\system32>" all i get is "The filename, directory name, or volume
label syntax is incorrect"
