Locating an Opteron 170, in Los Angeles

I am having a hell of a time finding this processor. I know it is not
aimed at the majority of consumers, more for the professional crowd,
and ther are Plenty of opteron 170's online.

But I was REALLY hoping to pick one up from a store this coming Friday,
without a wait, right then and there.

Best Buy does not carry them, or Fry's electronics, what other store
might carry it? it needn't be a large chain, just in the greater los
angeles area.


I have got everything else, all I need is the processor, but where oh
where is it?

While not local, might be worthwhile to call... They could check stock/etc.

That's how it is with the vast majority of parts, local
stores cannot keep stock of less common but more costly
parts like that, and if/when they do, the part costs a
pretty penny.

Best Buy does not carry them, or Fry's electronics, what other store

Check Newegg, if they have it and you get the order in early
today, it's likely to be there on Friday.

Newegg is right in calif probably take a day or two to deliver.

You know when I lived in LA there were tons of mom and pop PC stores
run by immigrants in Torrance and Orange County and in LA. There were
lots of free news papers in kiosks on street corners etc where they
listed them in with ads. I actually see a puny version of that here
where I live now and they are even given out at COMPUSA !

However the local COMPUSA has pretty much killed all the smaller
places around here now with a few still hanging on after they started
the rebating price sales and of course the netstores became popular
so maybe they went the way of the dodo bird. But there still seems to
be a few like Page Computers etc.
