Fairy Wears Boots

Hi all,

I'm looking for a freeware program that lets me edit what local users can
and cannot do on a Win XP Pro system, e.g., which progs they can use and
which prog properties they can change. I know that there are on-board tools
for that, but I seem unable to understand them. Can someone point me to some
freeware?

I already tried FaJo XP FSE, but it either doesn't do what I'm looking for
or (more likely) I didn't find it.

Thanks in advance,
Alie

Forgot to say that I know that FaJo XP FSE does at least in part what I
want but I have to go through all the programs one by one with the
right-click menu. That's a PITA as there are just so many programs, thus I'm
looking for some software that gives me a list of programs instead.

Thanks,
Alie

Thanks for the links! I was hoping to escape messing with the registry as
it's not my computer I'm setting up here, but I guess I'll just try it.

I haven't used it, but ¿isn't that what ms own 'Shared Computer Toolkit'
is supposed to help you with?

I'm so totally used to find most of my software either here or at
sourceforge.org that patch Tuesday is the only day I usually think of
Microsoft, lol. Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

I mentioned it for just such a case ;-) that you perhaps were unaware of
it. Now, differently from the freely downloadable freeware mostly
recommended in here, the 'Shared Computer Toolkit' has the WGA
disadvantage, so your mileage may vary if you want to download it.

Not sure what the views here are, by the regulars and others, with
regards to WGA-downloads vs. freeware. I don't recall seeing much such
software recommended.
