Hi all, i have a win2k server in a workgroup and 6 winXP
pro pc's. I have set up all users on the server as local
users. Is there a way to get that info on all 6 XP Pro
boxes or do i have to manually create the accounts on all
pc's?
Thanks
Paris

Paris,

You are confusing between what you can do on a workgroup and what you can do
in a domain.
If you were running a domain and all the PCs were members of that domain
then your user account created in the domain could be used on any PC to
logon to the domain and work in a properly secured and managed environment.
In a workgroup a PC only has a set of accounts created locally on it so the
fact that you created these accounts on a server means that you would still
have to create the accounts on each and every PC in the workgroup - if that
is what you are trying to do, hence I would recommend reading up on and then
implementing a domain in your environment.

Hi Mike, what i was thinking of doing was to have 4
different users that can log onto PC1 and each user on
logging on is given a home drive which is mapped to a
folder on the server. The question really i suppose is if
i wanted those 4 users to be able to do the same on PC2,3
and 4 will i have to manually do the same process on ech
pc? OR is there a way of replicating that info on the rest
of the systems. I know this can be done within AD on a
Win2k DC but was just confused as i cant remember the last
time i set-up a workgroup !!!! Maybe im trying to
impliment DC functionality!!!
