First try creating a new local account and logging on locally to rule out
incorrect drive permissions.

| something else i should be looking at? the only thing in the documents

| settings folder are administrator, all users and default user.user login

| supposed to authenticate to the domain. there is another ntuser.dat file
in
| \%systemroom%\winnt\repair folder. user login is supposed to authenticate
to
| the domain, and this does appear to function correctly. we have decent
| functionality but a few wierd things with certain apps which led me to the
| docs and settings folder in the first place.
