Local Profile problem

Hi guys

I'm having a problem with a user on a Win 2K SP4 PC. It seems to load up
another users profile when logging in. Her mail folders won't open because
she does not have access to this other users mailbox (obviously) and tries to
map the other users home drivers.

I've deleted profiles in Documents and Settings but no joy. Is this
something that is not being deleted out of the registry? Any help would be
really appreciated on this one - thanks

Ok... I've been through the registry and deleted all occurences (after
backing up) of the user's profile that is trying to load. No joy. I've also
installed the User Hive Cleanup Service. Still no joy. I've deleted all
profiles in Documents and Settings and in the User Profiles tab of the System
Properties. Still no joy. I'm pretty sure this is a registry issue as we
had this problem once before and someone else managed to resolve it, but he's
left!
Maybe this info will help to clarify what I've tried

Have you deleted the *account* and recreated it? If so, then is a
usable (new) profile created and and is it reused after logout and
system restarts? If so, then the stored old data files can be
copied into (or imported in applications), to the new profile.

Since what ever the issue is, it seems linked to a particular local
account, delete/create or create an alternate new account seems a
good path to pursue. This will generate a new SID for the account
and even if named the same it will not actually *be* the same
account.

BTW have you already checked via CPL Users and Passwords, Advanced,
Advanced, User account Properties, Profile Tab?

Hi Mark

I haven't checked the Profile tab but will; although I don't see why it
would cause a problem all of a sudden. I'm reluctant to recreate the user
account due to how much I would have to do when I know this problem was
resolved before by someone else for another user without having to do that.
If the problem is with the PC (the user has no problem on other workstations)
then I may just have to reinstall Windows2k as the quickest and easiest
option.
