I am the admin for a school, and want to know if there is
a way to keep MSAS on the taskbar/realtime, but silence it
and prevent users from opening/modifiying it. Any ideas?

Probably you have to wait for the release of the full, non-beta, commercial,
manageable (but unfortunatelly not free of charge) enterprise version.
 
I agree with Mikolaj on this one--it is tempting to want to try this, but
don't do it with the current beta product--it isn't designed for this kind
of use.
