Is there any way to allow the Users Local Group access to
to the following in Windows 2000 Pro:

1. create a folder and share it
2. Load and unload printer drivers
3. Allow Windows Update to run

Thanks

Hi John.

To create folders and share them, the user needs at least read/list/write access to a
folder and be a member of the local power users group [to share folder].

For print drivers, there is a security option that you can disable in the appropriate
security policy relating to print drivers. Look under security settings/local
policies/security options.

For Windows Updates, you can allow non admins to have updates installed by selecting
"update by schedule" which lets it happen automatically. In a larger network the free
Software Update Services from MS can run on an IIS server and client configuration
can be managed by Group Policy as in the last link below. --- Steve
