Hi,

I recently installed SP2 and after reboot, my account has disappeared from
the wlecome screen. I logged on as my wife and see my account is still
there. I changed the logon welcome screen to the classic screen and entered
my username and password and got the message above.

How do I get myself back into my PC????

I have found several threads relating to other versions of XP, but I am
running XP home on a small home peer network. I do not have group policy
editors.

PLEEEEESE HELP - I AM DESPERATE!!!

Hi,

I have the same problem. Two days ago, my sister called me. She told me, she
could not connect anymore on her computer, a Compaq Presario 2500 with XP
Home SP1. When she tried to connect, she received the message : "Local
Policy ...... log on interactively". I told her to try with the
administrator account (after pressing F8 during the boot sequence, but same
problem). She had not set any password for both account. (and the PC has
never been connected to the internet)

I have her computer now, and try many way to fix it. First by reseting the
password with the utility found on http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
.. But, no success, still the same problem "Local policy ... does not permit
to log on interactively"
Then, i tried with the Microsoft Resource Kit, NTRights.exe using the
command : "ntrights -m \\computer -u user +r SeInteractiveLogonRight". But
it failed too.

I also tried to rename from a linux live CD, the SECURITY file on the
windows\system32\config directory, but i wasn't able to rename it from my
linux live CD (probably because of the NTFS driver)

First, i would like to understand how this problem had occured (my sister
told me, she has not modify the local policy setting (and i believe her).
Then, if someone has an idea to get this computer back to work, without
having to format and reinstall windows, i really appreciate.

Thank for you help.

Cox
