When a computer is connected to a domain, it will apply policies in the
following order:
Local Policies
Site Policies
Domain Policies
Organizational Unit Policies
If a setting is defined in the local policy, and is re-defined in any of the
remaining three policies, it will be overwritten. If you do not re-define
that setting, the local policy setting will take effect. As long as the
machine is a member of the domain, it will always receive policies in this
order.
If you have specific settings that a computer must have, then I would
suggest organizing the machines in OU's and setting policies at this level.
They will always win unless no override is selected.
