I just added one new computer to our company local
network. It is not my first time to do such task.
However, after all setting up, the connection to local
network was denied, even administrator account.I can
use "Search Active Directory" under Network Tasks to
serach all the computers on the network, also I can ping
to any computer without any problem. We use ADSL through
Win2K server to access internet. This computer can access
internet as well. The only problem is when I want to
access network resource, I was told I have not the access
permission, even I use domain administrator account.

Please help!--many thanks

I may be having the same or similar problem - I can ping
other computers on our LAN but I can't see them or search
for them. I can see my computer from the others on the
LAN. If I try to access the network I get "network access
denied", with a line saying "The server is not configured
for transactions".
Something else that's worrying is that my computer
periodically changes the network name - to MSHOME or
WORKGROUP, and I have to go back and rename the network
and restart. This, of course, makes me wonder if I have a
Registry problem somewhere?

I don't know much about this but when i set up my network ( i have XP Pro on
both comps) i disabled simple file sharing on both and i ended up with
similar thing: when i tried to see anything from other computer, i got login
screen to enter user and password. Funny was that i didn't create ANY user
neither password, so i couldn't go into other comp. When i formatted and
installed XP again, i left simple file sharing, all was ok. So, it can be
something in permissions, but i didn't found where i could set it.

Hi seems we had the same problem and I too was determind
to format but then I tried to give my account a password
and I could log on to my pc through network. Next step
was simpel sharing of files changed password back to
blank and everthing was ok.
