Hi there

I have installed all tools and database on a local PC. I
think it's very slow. Can some one tell me if an
installation with a SQL Server on a other PC is much
faster then the local installation?

Hi, Juerg!

I use Athlon 1.3GHz /512Mb RAM as a work machine, where my tools (TD)
are located, and P4-1.7GHz / 256Mb RAM for the SQL server with 100Mbit
network between.
Still not very fast, but acceptable. I think if I swap these machines
I'll gain some 10% faster... The advantage of this solution is that I
can do something else, when I'm making a build. When I was having all
stuff on my PC it was impossible - 100% CPU load and 600-700MB RAM used.

Current CPU load during the build is 70-80% on the Athlon machine and
20-30% on the P4, so I guess SQL could be less powerful machine and TD
should be more powerful.

Nick
