local domain password cache on windows xp pro

I have some winxp pc connected with a domain controller win2003.
If i insert a domain user on the local machine it can login on it with its
domain password when the client is disconnected from network. My question
is: Where does client store domain password?

Many thanks for your reply but this link explains how many logons are
cached on client not where they are saved. Do you know if there is a .sam
file where they are stored?
 
We store cached credentials so that you can log onto your domain-joined
laptop when you aren't physically connected to the domain (like at home or
in an airport). Cached credentials aren't typical IDs or passwords--instead,
they implement a construct called a "password verifier" that you can think
of as a hash of a hash, salted with your user ID.
