Ps.. when th eputer gets turned on now, it says ethernet
controller...please wait...then goes to installing..then..
it seems lik eit cant find files it needs to finish
installing..

You probably uninstalled your network card by accident. You will need the
driver disk that came with the computer or network card. You can take it to
the shop & pay $75 for some slack-jaw to do it, but the fact that you found
this newsgroup indicates you have some desire to work it out yourself.

Is the network port on a card or is it part of the motherboard?
If its a card, you can remove it & look for a distinguishing label. Then you
can use a friend's PC to go to the website & search for a driver.
Is the computer a brand name? (Dell, HP) or a clone (Beige box with no
stickers) Most manufacturers include a CD with all the drivers to reinstall
in the event of a disaster.

Post back as much detail as you can & someone will help.

Good luck. . .
