I would like to setup 2 local area connections - one with
an IP Address and one which searches for the IP Address.
Thank you,
Mike
Each network adapter on a computer has one, and only one, local area
network connection. It isn't possible to create a second connection
for an existing network adapter. Adding a local area connection
requires adding a network adapter.
Using two network adapters is the only way I know of to have a fixed
IP address and a dynamic IP address at the same time.
If you'll use either the fixed or the dynamic, but not both at the
same time, XP can do what you want:
1. Configure your existing network connection to obtain an IP address
automatically.
2. Click the Alternate Configuration tab and enter the fixed IP
address.
