please could anyone tell me how to get the local area connection back? soon I have the motherboard changed and the window been reintalled, my local area connecton (the connection and the icon) from the network connections is gone missing. >_<

Do you have Power Quest's Drive Image 7 installed. If so see their
website/or below for a possible solution.

Is the LAN card activated in "Device Manager" ?

The server's configuration parameter "IRPStackSize" is too small

I don't have Power Quest and from the device manager I can't see LAN on it but I can see the network adaptor with 1394 net adaptor and Alcatel SpeedTouch USB ADSL. Without the Local area connection I would't be able to install my D-Link wireless router. Many thank

You do have a NIC (network interface card) in the machine or on-board the
new motherboard don't you?

Do you have a socket to plug the ethernet cable (the one from your D-Link
wireless router to your computer) into? If no, that's your answer, you do
not have a LAN connection in network connection because you do not have a
capable device. If you do have the socket, where is it on the back of the
computer? Is it with the USB, Serial, PS/2 etc connectors, or is it
elsewhere?
