local administrator password

Are there occasions when it's suitable to give users, especially
remote users, the local administrator password so that they can
install software, a printer, etc? Our organisation has not the funds
at this stage to put PCAnywhere on all these computers.

If it's an emergency or if they would have to travel a very long
distance otherwise, I don't see any other practical way.

they need.

The ones I'm referring to are roaming users with laptops.

I don't like to let end-users install software....how are the
remote users connecting to your network?

They are really only connecting to us via Outlook Web Access to
collect and send their emails. Their other connection is to a program
via an internet logon with a separate password.

There are other options besides
PCAnywhere....remote desktop may be a possibility for you, if they're on
WinXP....

They're on Win XP Pro. Thanks

Another option to look at would be TightVNC, which is free. Google for
it.

Then look into remote desktop...
