Please help me! I'm new to Windows 2000 Administration.

When I log into the server as the user -I have very limited access to
the system. I can't even change the time! I have already added the
user to the local Admin group. I've even modified the Local Security
policy -no luck. What am I doing wrong???

Is the machine a member of a domain? There may be domain policies in place that are preventing access to the box. Also, are
you logging in with a local account or a domain account?

Thank you,
Mike Johnston

I have made the machine a member of the domain. I have one domain
policy in place (redirect mydocuments folder to the user's network
share -even that isn't working). All other settings are default. I
have tried to set the rights as both the local administrator and the
domain administrator. Nothing has worked.

There is a difference between a Domain Admin and a Local Machine Admin -
which are you. If you are a Local Machine Admin then log onto the local
machine and all should be ok.

Thanks for your help on this -it is most appreciated!
I'm the domain admin. I logged on as the local machine admin and
added the user to the local administrator grop -to see if that would
resolve the problem. This is the solution I've seen on different web
sites -it's just not working.
