Loading XP

Furious Dan

I purchased a copy of XP to upgrade my laptop from
Win98. It gets halfway through loading and
goes "black." Everything ceases from there and I have to
shut down. I am then in an infuriating loop that doesn't
allow me to continue, nor to back out of it. I have put
my 98 CD in and it IGNORES it. Help! Please.

You did run the compatibility test from the XP CD before you started
installing, right? What did it tell you?
