I am attempting to reload XP Home on a new disk 120 gig Western Digital
following a hard disk failure. The XP version is 2002 (an early issue).
At first attempt have received the blue shutdown screen 'to prevent damage'
as it was about to format the disk.
Errors were:
STOP: 0x000000 8E(0xC0000005, 0xF77C4C0B, 0xF73D5800, 0x00000000
setupdd.sys - address F77C4C0b base at F779B000, DateStamp 3b7d8507
Rather than try again and perhaps damage the new hard drive, I would welcome
any advice.
It looks to me that I must have something else defective in the box as this
is a repeated problem.
Could the motherboard be defective, or perhaps another component?
