I can't find a way to load Windows XP to a SATA drive without a floppy
drive. During installation Windows offers to load a driver for it but
only from a floppy.

Is there a way to load the driver without one - a USB floppy drive is
not recognised.

You should not need a floppy to install to a SATA drive, as long as its connected to the motherboard, and not an add-on SATA card. If you do need to install the driver for a SATA controller card, you will have to use a floppy during install.

Create a CD-R from your original Windows XP disc and integrate the SATA
driver. You can also slipstream SP2 and all subsequent updates, integrate
other hardware drivers and applications as desired (a DVD-R may be required
for larger applications). Consult the following site for more details:

Thanks for the quick response.

It is connected to the motherboard (a Shuttle ST20G5) but it does seem
to need a driver. Windows installer reports a drive without a disk and
cannot continue
