I am hoping to put vista on my 2nd computer because it has a faster (2.5GHz)
processor than my current one. This older computer crashed when I tried to
get rid of a root kit hijack and I screwed up XP. So the old computer cant
boot. I have what i guess is the key on a sticker on the housing, but no
recovery CDs and I figured why pay HP to send me recovery CDs when I could
just load the Vista Beta on it?
I took the HD out of it and put it into this computer and formatted it and
put it back into the faster computer. I should be receiving the Vista DVD
from MS this week.
Will I just be able to put in the DVD and let it set itself up or will I
need to do more?

You'll need to boot from the Vista RC1 DVD and do a "clean" installation.
