I'm having a problem loading a ppt file written out by
ppt 2000 into ppt 2003.

I get the message:

"PowerPoint can't read C:\yada yada yada\filename.ppt"

Help seems to think that it is NOT a ppt file. But other
people are able to read it...

Any hints/clues/ideas? Is it a known bug perhaps - or
maybe I've made some kind of configuration error
(unwittingly when I upgraded to office 2003 a few days
ago...)

Todd,
It sounds like you need to install the Office 2003 updates. This was a bug
that was found very early on in the release of Office 2003 and fixed very
quickly. To get the fix, open PowerPoint and do a Help--> Check for Updates.
This will connect you to the Microsoft website, download any updates you do
not yet have and install them on your computer.
