I own a new Toshiba Satellite S609 laptop w/t windows XP media center. It has 80 gig HD and 1 gig ram. When I attempt to load my old Photoshop 4.0 version on the laptop I get a message saying that this program uses 3 MB of memory to install. In the performance window I checked the virtual memory and it had 1500mb, I even raised it up to 2000MB and rebooted the computer but to no avail.
I then tried the compatbility wizard to use windows 95 and still got the same message not enough VM.
I tried opening it from the add/remove programs app. with still no success!
The reason I need to install this earlier program is so I can use my Photoshop 7.0 upgrade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you might try just installing P7 and then when it asks about upgrade you
just insert the disk to show you have it?
Also virtual memory and free disk space are 2 different things

To set virtual memory you need to go thru a bunch of menus
just do a search under help for virtual memory. try setting it to 500 and
500!

Great help Wayne! Thank you, it worked!
Hey maybe you can help me with this one. When running Photoshop 7.0 for the first time , a window popped up saying that both my primary Scratch for Adobe Photoshop and my Windows primary paging file where on the same "volume'? It said that would affect my performance. What is the "volume" and how and where do I put Adobe PS on a different one

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance
Glenn
