loading office 97

Is there an issue with using office 97 and XP? I am not able to load my copy of office 97 onto my new computer which has XP operating system. Could this be a conflict between the software or just a disk error with my copy of office 97
 
Office 97 will work on XP, I had it on my machine. The only issue is
spell-check and, there is a fix for that. Are you getting any kind of error
messages when you attempt to install?

Office 97 will load and run perfectly on XP machines. My copy works just
fine. You will need to get the Office 97 SR2 patch if you don't have the
SR2 version of Office 97. What happens when you stick the Office 97 cd in
your cd drive?

Are you aware of the faqct taht support for this aging product is pretty
much over?
You may wish to consider an upgrade to a supported and more modern product.

Office 97 - Mainstream hotfix support for Office 97 ended on August 31,
2001, and extended hotfix support ended on February 28, 2002.
Microsoft will continue to offer current assisted support options on Office
97 through January 16, 2004. Office 97 downloads for security issues will
continue to be obtainable through normal assisted support channels at no
charge during this time.

Should work fine. Try giving the CD a good clean (or maybe the CD drive
needs a clean?)
