Does anyone know how to load music files, which are already on my computer, into the presentation and have the songs automatically play for several slides?

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)

Go to the slide where you want the music to start. Then under 'sound' go to 'other sound' and browse for your music file. Since Powerpoint only plays wav. files when you do it this way, you may have to convert it (just download a conversion program).
Another way is to go under 'Insert', 'movies and sounds', 'sound from file', and to browse for your music clip. In the Custom animation window, double click your sound and you can choose how many slides you want it to play. Doing it this way, you have more choices for sound formats

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]
[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PPT 2003
that you just created in PPT 2003? -

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for.
Although it's relatively easy to tell PowerPoint to play a specific sound
on a slide to play for more than just the current slide, there's no way for
PowerPoint to detect when one sound <started on another slide> has ended
and then to start another sound at that point. Each media object is a
discrete entity and cannot be "chained" together across multiple slides.
Instead, they would have to be combined outside of PowerPoint (using some
other tool) and then reinserted as a single media object.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide more options for handling multiple media files, don't forget to
send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
