Does anyone know if you can spoof the loader of legacy
games such that they will think they are loading on the OS
they were made to run on?

I am trying to load some legacy games that use older
versions of DirectX but the loader checks the OS version
and will not load.

The OS version and DirectX version are 2 different things, the OS is the
operating system such as Win2K and most of the older games wont run on 2K.

Check the game specs in the readme file if it says will run on 95 or 98 and
nothing else then it wont run on 2K, unless the manufacturer has issued a
patch for the game you will have to run a dual boot system with 2K and 98 in
order to play the game

I'm pretty sure I've seen and even donloaded an app that will lie about your
OS to an installer for you. I'll check at home and post a follow-up...

That said, they may be ten a penny - tried a Web search?
