I have on my D drive about 680 files, zips, arcs, exe etc. This is where
I keep programs I have downloaded. Every time I go to that drive I have
to wait about 1 min for all the icons to load before I can see the file
names. I have selected detail view.
I Let the drive spin down because I dont use it much. When I click to
the drive it takes a few seconds to spin up and I see my folders then I
scroll down to find a file and it loads a page and then the icons slowly
appear one by one, I have to wait for each page before I can scroll down
further. Is there any way I can sped this up?

Thank you

It doesnt make any difference I still have to page over to the next
group and have to wait for the icons to load befor I can get to the file
or get to the next group. The only way I can see is to make a bunck of
Folders and put groups in folders by date or subject or what ever.

Well, you've certainly got enough RAM. Temporary files deleted on a
regular basis? Maybe someone else will have an answer for you, but you
could just experiment and put some things in folders and see if that
makes a difference.
