If I disable the use of lmhash in the registry how will
that affect the security on my cluster server which is
set to use lm and ntlm?

Disabling the LmHash can only improve your security.

However, it will also break interoperability with certain downlevel
platforms (specifically, WinME, Win98SE, Win95, as well as NT4 pre-SP4, and
anything earlier, such as NT3.51). Those platforms will be unable to accept
authentication from your cluster, which probably is not much of a concern
for you-- few cluster machines are used as clients :-)
