I notice our lab Domain Controller (2003 Enterprise Edition Server)
LMCompatibilityLevel occasioannly drops from 5 to a lower value like 2 on its
own. I set it to 5 and reboot the server periodically to keep it at 5. Why
does that happen? This affects our applications running on XP workstations,
which also at times lose their LMCompatibilityLevel from 3 to sometimes 0
(zero). I am puzzled what causes this. I ran RSOP.msc to determine source,
but didn't find anything that stood out. The symptoms in our applications:
Our applications encounter errors on LDAP://serveripaddress/RootDSE
attempting to retrieve the defaultNamingContext etc. Any assistance would be
appreciated.
