Live Updates Problem

Greetings all, I noticed I cannot run microsoft updates anymore. And when I
go into run/services.msc to change the setting fro disabled to automatic, it
will not change, therefore I cannot run automatic updates or update anything
from the microsoft website. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

From a Microsoft Support page, the following can't do any harm (famous last
words)

Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following commands, press ENTER after each
command, and then click OK every time that you receive a verification
message:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
