I installed Norton Firewall recently, have had Norton Antivirus for some
years. Until the Firewall was installed, I could click on Live Update and
connect, download and install no problem. Now an error box comes up saying
"Live update is inaccessible..." Is there some setting I should have
configured?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd recommend asking about this sort of stuff with Symantec. This is
Microsoft.

You probably need to upgrade to a newer version of Norton
AntiVirus. When did you last renew your subscription?

if you are on explore you need to be on the admin user not on a guest or
another user that is limited. you have to be able to have the information
bar come up.

By design, firewalls prevent all outgoing traffic. In most cases, you should
get a popup saying that someprogram is attempting to access the internet and
do you want to permit it (yes/no) and do you want to always permit (yes/no).
That is the theory. In practice, sometimes the popup does not work as
expected.

For exaple, after installing the Zone Alarm firewall, I lost the ability to
do Norton/Symantec Live Updates. The fix was to add the following website
to the trusted list:

www.symantec.com
