Some text has recently started showing up in green and passing mouse over it
calls up a LIVE SEARCH box.
Is this something some sites use or did I catch a bug?

Hi Shakey,

Windows Live toolbar installed? There is an option Web Search> Show search
suggestions from History and Show search suggestions from the web.

Regards.

No its not that. This is just random words highlighted in green that pull up
a search box whenever touched by cursor. I just noticed the box says
"vibrant ad" so suspect its from the website. I HATE IT! Worse than popups
because I can't block it.
Thanks SG

Hi Shakey,
http://www.vibrantmedia.com

according to their pitch it is only placed on web sites that participate in
their campaigns. Does this occur on every site you visit?

Some Internet Security products like Nortons block advertising (Productivity
control). If you find them an annoyance then you can choose not to patronise
those sites.

But I would only be concerned if these ads are appearing on every web site
you visit.

Regards.

Do a thorough check for malware following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Thanks Rob- I now see that it is only on a set of related sites, probably
something they force upon me. I need these sites so I guess I will have to
live with it as nothing I have can find or clean it out, logical if its at
the site not my system.
