When is Windows Live Mail Desktop (the one which will replace Windows Mail
on Vista) to be released to public?

Gary,
Your opinion: will the Windows Live Mail installation OVERWRITE the Windows
Mail app, or will we now have TWO mail apps??

EW

Thanks! I find some aspects of Windows Mail to be a bit buggy, and am eager
to try out Live Mail Desktop.

I'm pretty sure that initially those two mail apps will be independent,
the same way that Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail Desktop
are independent now.

Windows Live Mail Desktop has been in public beta testing for
quite a while already. The new app will be called Windows Live Mail.

OK.. OK... I've no future as a comic.

I want to use this for my regular email, but to get into the program you have
to have a hotmail address it seems, which i really dont use so i guess i gotta
wait for the final version to use it :(

It should* be possible to get a hotmail id to facilitate use of WLMD and
then set up some rule or function to auto-forward any mail to that id
into your preferred address. That's what I intend if I use WLMD
and if I can't it's strangled at birth.

* If there's any sense or justice in this world.

Just because you get a free Hotmail address doesn't mean you
actually have to use it for anything important. I have one but only use
it to satisfy the "Live" login requirement.

That's good and it would be even better if there's auto forwarding
since it then wouldn't matter if you did use it occasionally or by
mistake.... I've done that before..
