Linda

I am struggling with this also. I posted earlier and the
links did not solve my problem. I could not find the
'hosts' file until I ran find files. I have not tried to
rename 'hosts' because I have several and don't know which
one or ones to rename. One 'hosts' in C:\windows has
Type: "sam file" after it. The other 'hosts' has
Type: 'file' with 0kb. Then there is lmhosts, dlhost,
khost & hostregistry. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Linda

The HOSTS file has no extensions. So, don't rename the "sam file."

Thanks for info Debbie, I guess I don't have "hosts".
Between the red 'x', page can't display and the pop-ups,
(all of which I did not have before the sp1 udate) I am
ready to go back to ie6 without the update. How do I do
this without losing favorites, etc? I saw in add/remove
programs that I could restore to previous windows config.
Would this be the way? I am running win98se. Just want
things the way they were!!!!!!!!!!! Linda

You're welcome.
Yes, some people don't have the HOSTS file.
I recommend saving your Favorites, just in case. Here's how:
Open IE--> click File--> Import and Export...--> Next--> Export
Favorites-->Next--> save them wherever you want, and that's it! (You can
save your Cookies too, if you want).
And then, you can restore IE, just like you said ;-)

Hope you get your problem fixed,
Debbie
