Literally hundreds of viruses

I hope this is the right place for this question. I am not sure why this is
happening or what to do about it.

Over the last three days, I have received over 100 emails that contain
viruses mostly by attachment. All of them have been intercepted by my Norton
Antivirus and deleted. Some of the emails say they come from

(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)

The messages say they are from Microsoft Net Service. A lot of them claim to
be undeliverable email even though I never sent an email there.

When I look at the headers under options, the return address is obviously
different.

I used to get an email such as this maybe every two to three months. Then I
would spend all sorts of time trying to figure out what steps to take to not
get it again.

I am trying to figure out if I did something to endure this. I download all
of Microsoft's updates, my antivirus software is always up to date, and I
have a hardware and software firewall. I realize that firewalls won't stop
emails.

Does anyone know why I am getting all of these emails? I feel like the only
way to stop it is to change my email address.

Thanks.

Bert

Well to start with; you post here with an address that appears to be valid.
Mask the address (look at mine) or use an invalid one. Viruswriters and
spammers often use newsgroups to beging their offensive.

Anyway, if you want to get rid of the e-mails in Outlook you might want to
go to your webbased mailclient provided by your ISP. If you have a good one
it will let you set mailrules here. Configure the rule to delete or mover
the virusmessages to a different folder so it will prevent Outlook from
downloading it.

Hope this helps!

Sounds to me like you have a virus called Swen. You need to run a good
virus scan and clean your system or the problem will continue. Swen allows
a hacker to send out emails with your email address as a return to. All
the mail servers are catching the virus and sending you an email to alert
you. Changing the rules will help.

Thanks,
Ray
