Lite-On LDW-811s 8x DVD Writer

Had one of these for a few weeks now. Has anyone managed to get it to
burn at 8x. Its suppoased to record dvd+r at 8x but i can only get it
to work at 4x.

If so, what program are you using?

Are you writing to 8x media?
Did you get the most up to date firmware for the dvd writer?
 
As far as i know i have latest firmware, and i havent been able to get
8x media yet. The problem is that the only write speed options i have
in easy cd 6 ( or nero 6 ), are 2.4x or 4x. Ive also installed the
latest updates for easy cd.

i will have to go pc world in the morning and see if they have any 8x
media. Only thing is when i go into drive info it only lists the
recording speeds as 2.4x, and 4x for +r and 2x and 4x for -r. This is
without a disc in.

the drive came with sonic mydvd but thats crap!!

You should be able to write to RICOHJPNR01 media at 8x, that is DVD+R. RICOHJPNR01 is 4x media. http://www.meritline.com does have 8x DVD+R media in, but it is really expensive. As I said, go to CDRLabs and ask there, they can help you much better in thier forums than in these forums.
