LISTS

[Attaboy]

I created a worksheet that performed the following:

1. When I selected a cell in a column, a drop down arrow
appeared.

2. Upon clicking on the drop down arrow a list appeared to
select from. I maintain this list on a seperate worksheet
which I believe I created with Data Validation(LIST).

3. I lost the worksheet and am trying to recreate it;
however, When I try I get an error message that says "you
may not use reference to other worksheets for Data
Validation Criteria. I know I maintained my list on a
separate worksheets before, but I cannot seem to re-create
it.

My goal is to have the list appear for each cell in a
given column....

Any ideas?

You can name the range that contains the cells you want to use as the
list. Then, refer to that name in the Data Validation dialog box, e.g.
=MyList.

Name the list and then refer to the name, assume the list is in Sheet2,
select the list, click in the namebox above the row headers, type in the
name MyList
now in the validation use

=MyList

Give the list on the other worksheet a name and use =myname
