Hello,

After I connect to my office via vpn, I cannot see the clients by computer
id name until I first use \\ipaddress from the address line of internet
explorer. Once the remote client is browsed by ip address, I can then use
\\unc for future browsing that session. Question, is there any "net"
command or "ip..." command that I can use from the command prompt or windows
that shows a list of ip addresses of clients that are currently connected to
the network that I connected to via vpn??
TIA, Ken B

I'm not sure of the detailed answer to this one.

In offices with domains and servers, my practice is to use commands at the
server--either command line NET VIEW or right-click My Computer, manage,
etc, to see names and, perhaps IP's. Net view gives names, ping name gives
IP's.

Do you have a WINS server running, and have you configured an IP for that
WINS server in the properties of your VPN connection?

Yep... There isn't much out there that will delineate IP's other than
a scanning tool (which is not ideal) for over the VPN...

At the office, I use NET VIEW.. But this only works in the desired
manner when on the office domain.

There's a beta tool from depicus.com (arpviewer) which will show you what's
out there--I've never used it over a VPN--I will invoke it from a server if
I can't remember an address of a device like a webcam or access point, or
need to see what's new.

It is useful, but definitely beta quality--and hasn't been revised in many
months.
