List mode

I want all my folders to open in "list" view, but XP insists on defaulting back
to tiles every couple of days or so. Is there a way to keep the view mode for
folders fixed?

Open Explorer. Menu Item Tools > Folder Options > View Tab > Apply to All Folders button

The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400 most
recently used folders.
