Why was the list file function removed from powerpoint viewer?

As a AV manger I get 10 presentations a day, every day ,that need combing. When I found list files my life became easy, just type the order into one text file and it works. All the work rounds are exactly that, work rounds, why take the elegent solution away.

Is there a replacement for the list file system or do you have to use a 12 point methord to do something that used to be so simple.

Though you can't directly open a list file from within the Viewer, there is
a command line switch that you can use. See

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint Viewer 2003 only supports opening a playlist through a command
line. For this and other command line options for the viewer, check out the
following KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=830040

If it is important to you (or anyone else reading this message) that the
PowerPoint Viewer provide additional playlist options, don't forget to send
your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

A slightly long winded way, but this will achive the desired result

Start>find> files and search for pptview.exe

create a shortcut and put it somewhere sensible (in a presentation directory)

right click and select properties in short cut target add /l “new text doxument.txt†AFTER the last “

delete the content of the 'start in' line

click ok

Now create a new text document in the same directory and edit it to contain the name and order of the files you which to show

close and save (making sure the modified shortcut and the text document as well as the ppt files are all in the same directory

run the modified shortcut
