List Box in Excel 97

I have 3 questions relating to List Boxes in Excel 97:

1. Can it be attached to the cell rather than looking
like a drawn list box. I want dropdown arrow to appear
when I click in the cell. I don't want it to appear
unless I am in the cell.

2. I don't want to link it to data in the spreadsheet. I
want to type independent data in the List Box.

3. Can this cell default to being blank? (I suppose I
could have one of the entries as a blank one.)

Click in the cell where you want the dropdown
Go to the Data menu/Validation
Change criteria to a "List" and type your source
information in separated by commas and no spaces.
