Fernando Cassia, a writer with theinquirer.net, gives a glowing review
of SUPER. He asserts it's definitely ready for prime-time now that it
has a gui.

SUPER©.v2006.build.19(April.26,2006) gives me problems in that the
drop-down boxes don't work for me. So I use a previous version. There
are some things that are counter-intuitive about it - like the selection
of files. Its window always stays on top, and it doesn't have a minimize
button. Also, not being an expert on the various encoding options can
make it somewhat daunting-looking for people like me.

These gripes aside, SUPER can be a lifesaver. Why, just this day I
downloaded an AVI file, for which Windows Media Player complained about
lacking a codec. I used SUPER to convert to MPEG, and that fixed it up fine.

I have used Canopus Procoder in the past which costs plenty cash and
IMHO Super is as good and in many respects better.

Oh wow, thanks. I had no idea.

Thanks again.

I had actually figured out the files bit - it just wasn't intuitive. I'm
not trying to be narky when I say that they could have designed the UI
better - it breaks user expectations about how user-interfaces work. It
makes it look broken, whereas in fact it was operating how they intended
it to; "always do the least suprising thing", and all that.

Excellent article & I agree with everything the author said about
Super. Super is an excellent program & it rivals even the commerical
video/audio converters. Super also uses only open source encoders such
as FFMPEG & Mencoder.
