I have an odd problem that maybe someone out there has seen before.

I am running Win2K PRO on a laptop. I have recently installed a
WPC11 802.11B PCMCIA card to connect to a Linksys Access Point/Router.

When I start up with the WPC11, everything appears to be OK.
Diagnostics say that the card can find the access point and WEP is not
currently enabled anywhere in the network.

If I issue a ping command, I get through fine. If I launch a
browser, it gets as far as "Web site found. Waiting for reply..." and
then times out.

There is no proxy setting on the browser.

The thing that is really throwing me for a loop is that if I stick an
ethernet cable into the laptop and the very same Access Point/Router,
it works fine.

Anyone ever hear of such a thing?

Dave

Hi Dave, I had a similar problem with that card, connection was
intermittent. It was suggested to me that there could be radio interference
from the laptop itself so I bought a USB network adapter rather than use the
card and everything works fine.
Hope that helps

If you are able to ping by IP, but not by name.. .its a DNS configuration
problem. Check your DNS servers in the IP properties for the LAN/DialUP
connectoid.
