LinkSys

Hi,
I just purchased a Linksys 811.b cable modem and installed
in using the USB on my Sony Vaio (new) running windows
XP. Immediately after installing the software provided by
my ISP (Comcast), my computer starting automatically re-
booting itself randomly whenever I was accessing the web.
It was fine unless I was initiating a search, clicking on
a hyperlink,etc. The shutdown/restarts are random and
don't seem to be correlated with anything.

Any ideas or solutions? I have already downloaded a new
driver from Linksys and a Windows "patch" to cover
a "worm" but the restarts continue...

HELP! ;-))

I have Comcast for an ISP and have no Comcast software. What software
did Comcast provide for you?
Not that I want any. Just really curious.

I'm a former Comcaster (CHSI tech support) and knows that CHSI supplies a
modified version of IE and some applets.

How is the Linksys connected? You are stating that it's a wireless
modem/router. Is the router side set to act as a DNS server? (This is
standard for routers.) If not, reconfigure it so that it is, and tell XP to
support DHCP in the Network Connection properties.

Christopher;
Well, I don't want that software, shades of AOL. Speaking of AOL unless LinkSys'
address is totally phony, his message was from AOL.
He doesn't say anything about wireless. Says he's using a LinkSys cable modem on
his USB port.

I guess when he said LynkSys, he said wireless.
I learn something new all the time.
